Here is a list of the 25 top grossing films ever:

I’ll make an honest remark on what I’m writing about right now, I couldn’t tell you if a Transformer is a Marvel character. I’m fairly certain it’s not, but the point is all the same for this post. The story that goes along with these mythical characters is false. To get into these movies I feel like you buy into their world and that’s what makes it so exciting. The real world is incredibly lame when compared to these super heroes and that’s why people love them.

I could name 100 movies better than some of these on this list. The point can be made that top box office draws should not equate to quality of movie, but it does give an indication of what people enjoy watching. Trying to understand why I dislike a movie that so many other people enjoy has me questioning why?

Here’s the example:

One major problem with MCU films are the villains! Almost every single one has been a disappointment whether it was turning the powerful and threatening Mandarin to some weak, skinny white guy who literally dies the minute after saying he is the real mandarin by being hit by a pipe (very anticlimatic) or malekith who was powerful but lacked any kind of characterization whatsoever or Ultron who instead of being a murderous robot who kicks the crap out the avenegers, is a comedian who can get beat up by a single member of the team or YellowJacket who was just meh overall or the worse one out of them all, Zemo! The guy who did almost nothing but break out Bucky, no ties to hydra and gets beaten by black panther putting his arm around him (epic fail).

If you read that, and nod your head like you know what he’s talking about, I feel for you. Not because I know the feeling, but because you need help. These are movies. In worlds that don’t exist. On an importance level they are 0. Obviously every fictional movie is fake, however, there are movies where you can at least say, “that could happen in real life.” These movies do not.

What argument can you make to why they are good movies?
