Adasheee, Tommy G, and I went to Aronimink today to watch the 2nd round of the BMW championship. The Shee lives in Newtown Square so I stayed over his place last night and the course is 5 minutes away. We got incredibly lucky that the forecast called for rain so they played threesomes off of both nines and moved the tee times up 2 hours. What this did was allowed us to leave at around 6:45am and get to the course promptly at 7am when the players were starting. I say it was beneficial because it may have created some confusion of the start time and thus less spectators were there at this time. The course was ours.

This being the only PGA event I’ve ever been to and I wasn’t sure what to expect. We started walking to the range and came across Byeong An working on his sand game until Aaron Wise joined him. This was all next to Adam Scott knocking down chips. Ok. This is closer than I was expecting.

We walk a bit further and a putting green is right there with more pros. There’s no special area like I envisioned in my mind. Any dipshit can take a picture without obstruction. Cool shit!

We then head over to the range and there are pros lined up hitting shots. Rosey. Rahmbo. Jordan. DJ. Phil. All my bros were hanging out just broing out on the range. I was about 10 feet from these guys.

Adam and I were like, “uhhh, is this real life?” How are we so close to these guys?

We decide to start walking to hole 1 and we get ahead of the herd of…you guessed it…the loud roar of Tiger Woods. 3 perfect drives from the group of Tiger, Jordan, and Rickie and we walked passed the green of 1 and straight to the tee box of 2. We post up and once the group is done putting, they make their way over to us. I’m standing thinking that this can’t be possible. Tiger fucking Woods is going to be standing next to me in about 10 seconds. He quietly gets up to the tee box like it’s any other hole and tees off. I’m standing there like a dip shit taking a picture having a nervous breakdown that my silent phone is going to unsilent itself and get me kicked out of all future PGA events. Fortunately it was a non issue and I have the greatest accomplishment of my life, standing next to Tiger.

At that point I thought that what was going on doesn’t happen all the time. It was a 15 person gallery around Tiger and I could practically shake his hand. Fortunately the round played out similarly all day long as we got to see group after group up close hitting shots. It was surreal.

Watching these guys was another level too. They hit the ball so far and so straight that we don’t play the same game. I’m using the figurative we for all average hackers. These guys are smashing their drives 300+ and watching the trajectory is next level. I was in awe for most of the day.

I’m not quite sure if this was a typical PGA experience because I’ve never been to any other events, but for me it felt different. Seeing these guys up close felt like a once in a lifetime experience. To be honest, I don’t see myself going to many more because as fun as this one time was, I don’t know if it would feel the same. All in all, great experience that couldn’t have worked out better.
