Clickbait title let’s goooooooooooooo
But it’s kind of true.
I don’t know my neighbor very well. She let me use her phone and called me an uber when I locked myself out and also left me a note on my door that said “Hey, what’s up?” which I didn’t respond to.
She’s probably early 20s, Indian, lives with her dad (could be her BF, I’ve never seen him), and every interaction I’ve had with her makes her seem nice and well-intentioned.
Last week she knocked on my door and said something along the lines of:
“Hey, I know this is a little strange but can I borrow $40 to buy ‘him’ (the guy she lives with) a birthday present? I don’t get my pay check from work until tomorrow and I’ll pay you back then!”
Instead of lying and saying “Sorry, I don’t have any cash”, I gave her the $40.
Now, it’s been almost a full week and I haven’t heard a thing.
I don’t know what to do.
I don’t think she’s trying to scam me out of $40, but I don’t really want to knock on her door and say “hey, can I have my $40 back?”.
I could leave a note on her door? Wait until I bump into her again? Not say anything? Break in a steal it?
What do I do…
