The Ticket

I have a 2nd ticket for $25 @ 22-1 as well.

The Current Leaderboard

I was curious about Taiwan’s CT Pan’s latest/past results as he’s had a wrist injury. He took 4th a month ago at the Byron Nelson and missed 2 cuts prior to that and that’s all his recent golf. His 1 career tour win came back in ’19 at the RBC Heritage. Here are the current betting odds.

The Plan

Not the favorite at +400, and a 2 stroke lead, is not what you call a sure fire winner. I had $190 at roughly 7-1 on Rory last week and watched him crash and burn hole after hole. It was like watching the Bowser in Mario Golf hit every fairway on booming drives and then hit ass approach shots and miss putts you need to make. It was infuriating so it’s only fitting that he can dick me over here. I have an 18-1 ticket on Justin Rose as some semblance of hedging, but it comes down to Rory in my mind even though I know Fleetwood can go low to take this. As I’ve learned from betting golf, 2 strokes is nothing. That can switch in 1 hole so a lot of this bet comes down to CT’s nerves as he can give himself some breathing room in the early going with a birdie or two. I’ll know right away if this ticket can even be profitable because I don’t see hedging with this many people in the mix. There are 6 guys who are 2 back and CT’s 66 yesterday would have been matched by Fleetwood’s 64 and Nick Taylor’s 63. 66 is a phenomenal round and if he can go 66 again, I think he gets there. Can he muster up back to back to back 66’s? It’s asking a lot but that’s what you need to win there. If he can hold the lead through 9, I’ll say there’s a chance. If he is even par through 9, I’m pretty sure it’ll lose. I’ll look for hedging opportunities if I can get lucky enough that the betting odds come down to 3, or better yet 2, golfers down the stretch.

I also have $50 on Ashleigh Buhai at 18-1 for the LPGA (3 back), $25 on Chan Kim at 50-1 and Mitchell Meissner at 40-1 both 1 back in the Korn Ferry for added fun.
