Jeff and I put our hands in the middle, like we do every morning, and on the count of 3 raised them up and said, “Make Money.” We showed that to Sam the first day to teach him. When he arrived the 2nd day, Jeff and I put our hands in but Sam protested, he said, “I don’t like making money because the Chinese use cheap labor to profit off their civilians.” We fired Sam that same day.

I’m obviously making a comparison to the NFL and how the Miami Dolphins are threatening suspension if players don’t stand for the anthem. For the privilege these players get to play football and make millions of dollars, the team should have the right to suspend their players if they want to. If players don’t want to pledge their allegiance to the United States, they can find a job elsewhere. You can make the argument that they are being forced to stand for their country against their will and I’d make the same argument, find somewhere else to live.

I’m halfway through Staircase which is another Making a Murderer where the State is doing shady business to convict a guy who maybe did or didn’t do it. I’m only half way through to make an opinion. What’s noticeable is that there are two sides to every story and you see that with the NFL as well. There isn’t a right and wrong. Now in a murder case, SOMEONE knows the truth, I pretend to think that it’s gray like the NFL. I only question the platform the NFL players are choosing.

Back to Sam.

Sam went from being an employee to being a person who works a job where the amount of effort you put in will result in the amount of success you have. The blueprint is there. We’ve been in business since 1853. He’s currently learning how that money is made to keep up in business for all of these years. Once he learns the process, then he can start learning the means of producing ideas that turn profit. This is the most difficult part about business.

I told Sam it’s not a mistake unless it costs the company money. Everyone will make a mistake. I certainly do and I’ve been at it for 14 years. It’s mitigating the mistakes and capitalizing big on the correct paths. Sam brings another brain, and a set of hands, to our team which will create more opportunities for the company. I’m hoping he enjoys the work because that’s truly what matters. I’m sure he’ll post about his experience and trash our management and then we’ll have to start monitoring his Twitter feeds and put a block on sites he visits. Until then.
