I’m going to Montana with my GIRLFRIEND and her family tomorrow. Big Sky, to be specific.
The plan is to ski. I’ve skied twice in my life. Once when I was 15 and once when I was 25. Neither made a big impact on me other than I was cold and I was bad at it.
This time though we’ll be skiing four out of five days. Meghan has skied her whole life, her brother was on the ski team at UVM, and her dad was a ski instructor. That’s either the best group or the worst group to get acclimated with.
I spent a lot of money at Buckman’s for boots (Atomic), pants (bright orange), and a helmet ($265! For a helmet!). I’m pretty much the guy who’s never golfed that bought a $600 driver and tells everyone he’s really into golf now. Ideally I’ll just blend in like a little bird and by the end be able to get down a hill without falling.
Montana should be a blast though. As long as I don’t get hurt or embarrass myself in front of the family it should be a great time.
I won’t be posting on the blog either, which really isn’t any different than any other week.
If you have any tips, please share them now.
Did you ever hear of “ski rental” places. There’s one in Hatboro that everyone thinks is a front for a drug business because who rents skis in Hatboro.
Or, better yet, when you get there you rent them. No transporting issues.
You’re going with a family that lives on skis and they don’t have anything you could use?
Good luck! You’ll need it.
How about a ski trip follow up?
