Desperate times call for desperate measures. This was said by Anne Frank before she trapped a mouse in the attic and prepared the meal by cutting off its head and tail and heating it up with a candle before serving the feast to the family. Too soon? I’m not sure who was the person who heard her say that to record it. Or maybe she said it, thought it was clever, and then documented it in her diary. Hard to say in desperate times.

This is how I feel with the Corona virus as everyone has an opinion on how destructive it will be. Some people say it will wipe out millions and some say it’s completely overblown. Taking precautionary measures makes sense until it starts affecting the entire global economy with people losing jobs and trillions of dollars being wiped out in the stock market while we wait for nothing. Then we’ll wait longer under the current plan.

Fortunately at Stortz Tools we’ve pivoted to day traders, bloggers, and golfers. Yesterday I bought some PENN stock at $5.25. They purchased Barstool for $165 million, the stock went from $38 to $5, and Pres probably lost around $50 million in a month. I’ll buy low. Then I bought some CMCSA, XOM, AAL, RCL, and more NVAX. Also, figured I’d up the purchases in my profit sharing slowly turning my cash into ash. Could we keep going lower?

I went golfing yesterday and the club made it so you can’t take out the flags and there are no rakes in the bunkers. I birdied 15 from a sand shot. No big deal but I’m fairly certain that was my first time in my life that I birdied from the sand. I was hitting the ball nice after I got my free lesson from the pro when I went to buy a new set of sticks. I think this year I could rival a 10 handicap if I continue to improve. Short game is coming around and I actually took a divot on 2 shots. New swing, new results. And because I’m nice, the new tip I’m using is making sure the swing balance shifts to my left foot at the end of the swing.

To touch on the blogging, I’ve been dormant. Not much going on when there isn’t much going on. I’m reading the Stand which is a Stephen King book about the world coming down with a deadly virus. No joke. I’ve also been playing some chess and am getting near that 1500 mark which would be a true accomplishment considering how long I’ve been playing.

My final update is I don’t truly understand what’s going on. Our business, albeit a bit slow, is still exactly the same as it was with our customers ordering our product. The places I routinely eat at are all open. The bowling alley is opening tonight after closing for 4 days. So our solution was to quarantine for 4 days. I’m sure it stopped the Corona and now we’re all safe. Assuming we were ever in danger.
