Slade will be disappointed that this isn’t titled “Tiger is back, baby!”

However…

Tiger is BACK!!!

He won the Tour Championship this past weekend marking his first win in five years.

When he won on Sunday, I was pumped.

But it dawned on me today though: WHY?

NBC analyst Roger Maltbie once said “Tiger doesn’t move the needle, he IS the needle.”

I have no idea why I root for Tiger.

My dad rooted for him as I grew up and I thought it was because he was from Philly.

He had a brutal fall from the top, involving drugs, adultery, injury, a DUI, etc.

Many of his actions from 2009 to today were questionable and some were downright scumbag-y.

He’s not particularly eccentric in interviews and he’s just all around great at golf, it’s not like he drives it the farthest and hittin’ dingers every time.

But it doesn’t matter. I just don’t care for some reason. I’ll root for him to win every single tournament and I don’t know why.

The only real reason would be something like: “He’s one of the two best golfers ever and everyone likes a great comeback story“, but the Tiger effect is bigger than that.

WHY is Tiger the needle?
