The list is finally out, 22 days into January. Better late than never!

As I alluded to, I didn’t do great on my 2019 goals. These goals will be more thoughtful, and hopefully more achievable, as I’ve done this a few years in a row now.

  1. Don’t break my new phone screen for the entire year – I broke my new phone screen twice in 2019. I just got an iPhone 11 and REALLY want to keep it pristine.

  2. Go to the dentist for the first time in five years – Eventually I will need to. They just can’t handle the extra teeth.

  3. Go the dry cleaner for the first time ever – SHOULD be easy.

  4. Learn one full song on guitar every two weeks – This isn’t the best way to become a better player, but will force me to play regularly. I have a list.

  5. Buy at least six gifts for six people (friends, family, etc.) for no specific reason – Thinking about others is important.

  6. Donate $2,000 to causes I care about – That money would mean more to others than to me.

  7. Lose less than $2,000 gambling – Feels ridiculous writing this, but that would be a reasonable year.

  8. Go to an event at the Kimmel Center – I need to diversify my interests.

  9. Go to the West Coast – Either LA, Seattle, and / or Portland. Olympic Trials 2020 anyone?

  10. Shoot under 100 in a round of golf on any course – Best was a 104 last year which sucks, but I suck so it’s okay.

  11. Read six books – Don’t laugh, this is realistic.

  12. Bowl a 300 – After enough failures this should probably be removed, but I ACTUALLY think it could happen this year.

  13. Vote in the 2020 election – Just holding myself accountable.

  14. Give up alcohol for a 20 day stretch – Two weeks sounded too short and four weeks sounded too long.

  15. Blackout less than 5 times – This is sort of ridiculous, as the goal should be zero, but that’s not realistic. At 28, this is something I genuinely want to improve.

  16. Reach a 1500 rating on Chess.com – I’ve been slacking lately and am currently around 1350, but plan to get back into it.

  17. Write 100 blog posts – I wrote about 75 in 2019 and had a goal of 200 for 2018, lol.

  18. Sustain 50 miles a week for four straight weeks injury free – This is where I’m at in my running career.

  19. Fast for 24 hours – Less enthused about this since Jeff told me he does this fairly regularly so may make it 40.

  20. Don’t look at my phone for anymore than five minutes before bed each night – We all do it. Sometimes 20 minutes go by. No more.
