That’s what makes it harder!

I’m not sure what makes it harder, but, we’ll assume it’s “that”.

Perhaps it’s because these guys opened for Morrissey, and they hit that 80’s sound I like so much, but it’s rare I find an artist and listen to their album fully through these days. I’ve ran through Irreversible about a dozen times now and find songs I like more and more each time. I’ll note that they are playing at the Filmore in May and they only have 3% tickets left selling for $135 GA. I saw it was $800 2 weeks ago. If I wasn’t in the UK it’s a band I would consider seeing. Which is saying a lot.

I normally wouldn’t go to the trouble of posting about a band I enjoy, but they story continues. In the above song, there is a line, “I bought Blue Velvet on DVD, and brought it to the Slumber Party.” I thought, what the hell is Blue Velvet? I looked it up and it’s a David Lynch movie from the 80’s. He created Twin Peaks so I knew I liked the genre, so I watched the movie. It stars Kyle Maclachlan (detective in Twin Peaks) and Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) who go on this oddball murder mystery with Dennis Hopper (Speed bad guy) as the villain. I wouldn’t recommend the movie as it takes a certain someone to enjoy it, but I thought it was well done. It was so simple and stupid, it was great. Which is why he wants to bring it to the slumber party! This would be the question I’d ask the band if I had a chance.

Which brings me to how a band you like can send you on a life path for no other reason than you like the band. To go from a song I like, to watching a movie I like, from an era I like, to a director I like, seems apropos. It was almost fun for no reason other than I wanted to see what came out of it. Which ultimately resulted in this blog post. Any other movements from songs from the audience?
