90 minutes ago I slipped down the stairs. We were about to go on a family run, all dressed up, beautiful Sunday morning, and in a flash I was going down, HARD. These damn Saucony socks are SO slick. To make matters worse, I was holding Harrison while I went down.
I’m happy to report that I sacrificed my body for him. In that moment, instinct took over; I tucked Harrison in like a football and absorbed the full impact of the fall with my lower back. You can’t teach these things.
Within a second Harrison was wailing (from the shock of it all) and I was down bad (crying at the gym). Meghan, who was fortunately right behind us, grabbed and consoled the baby while I staggered back and forth grunting and yelling. Within a minute Harrison was fine. Like I said, Dada did his job, Harrison was completely fine.
However, I’m now laying on the couch with a cold bag of peas on my back barely able to walk. The things we do for family. In these early hours I don’t know if recovery will be a day or a month. Just yesterday I committed to the 10 mile road race at Mayor’s Cup, great timing!.

But this could be great for the reader(s) of Splittingtens. If I’m fully immobilized and simply can’t help around the house, I might as well do the world some good and crank out blog content.
