I spent 7 hours this weekend finishing up Netflix’s Love is Blind. Here’s a full review with spoilers include.
Cameron & Lauren
I think even I fell in love with Cameron by the end of this. He’s stiff as a board and speaks at the exact same pace and tone no matter what he’s saying, which is hilarious, but he was super endearing and spoke very eloquently and genuinely.
Lauren’s uncertainty was stressful but honest, and her dad was kind of the man. They mentioned the mixed race couple aspect a bit but I think they actually could have done more with it. I would’ve been sad if she said no, but then again it would have meant Cameron might still be single?
That said, still happily married supposedly, leggoo!
Mark & Jessica
Dear lord, the most annoying couple bar none. Mark basically gets insta-cucked by Barnett and says “I know my worth, no one messes around with me” then proceeds to get completely owned for six straight weeks by Jessica. He was over-bearing and you could tell the entire time they weren’t right.
Jessica on the other hand, seemed to continue for all the wrong reasons. I don’t know if they get paid more for making it all the way through, but she clearly knew the whole time she was OUT on Mark, and has apparently ignored him since the show ended. She would just get WASTED then talk to / about Barnett, then denied any thought of it throughout the whole series. I liked her in the beginning but she was too obviously along for the ride with no intention of making it work.
Barnett & Amber
I feel like every guy had some resentment towards Barnett after the first episode since he comes off as the dude who cucks me at the bar and starts talking to the girl I was talking to and I just can’t compete because he’s a smooth talker and tall and strong and attractive (I’m not the only one who thought that… right?).
But he ultimately came out as pretty cool and mature in my opinion. Amber, too, came off as a psycho to start but seemed to be a bit more ‘real’ by the end.
The smile he gave Amber after ~30 seconds on the alter while she was waiting for his answer, then her reaction… heart melting. They’re still together.
Damian & Giannina
Damian is dumb as rocks. Maybe that was just me, but I thought he was like unspeakably dumb. I don’t know what the hell Giannina saw in him. The way she talks make her sound like what she’s saying is going to be dumb, but she was actually pretty sharp.
Damian just sucked at communicating. The bedroom convo plus the dinner convo were hilarious. It’s almost like he wanted her to leave him first. For some reason she stuck around and then him saying no on the alter was gold. Totally owned her. I felt bad. Everyone hated him. Easily the most contentious alter break up. Great stuff.
Rumors have it they’re still together, who knows.
Kenny & Kelly
The most boring couple. No sex, no real drama, I usually took my piss breaks whenever it went to these two. That’s not an insult, if anything they’re the most normal.
He ultimately got friend-zoned which I didn’t see coming. Of the three rejections, he handled it the best. I guess the message here is if you’re starting a relationship, try and have sex as soon as possible. That way you probably won’t get friend-zoned.
Overall it was an entertaining show. A clever spin on the mindless, drama-filled reality TV. The biggest problem though is that NO ONE WAS UGLY. The whole premise is you don’t see the person before you meet, but pretty much every person on the show was decently attractive or better. This should be fixed.
Honestly, I’d participate if I could – “I’m Sam, I have a blind cat, play chess and Call of Duty, and have the body of a 16 year old woman.” – Netflix producers would love that.
My coworkers rave about this show but I refuse to watch it. Love the idea but I can’t imagine possible going out with someone unless someone (including myself) can verify their hotness.
I haven’t read the post yet because I want my mind changed why it is/isn’t worth viewing and would appreciate insight @Sam
Is it worth it to watch on a Friday night in or a hungover Sunday (like me this weekend)? Yes.
I feel like the Bachelor / Bachelorette is too manufactured, this is slightly more organic (that’s being generous).
Watch the first episode and you’ll probably be in. If not, drop it.
Have you watched Witness starring Harrison Ford yet?
Please make your next post a review of Witness. If not I’m going to write one myself.
Spoiler: it’s an all-time classic
I can’t guarantee that it will be my next post, but I promise I will watch it and write a review in the next week.
“Do you remember when you said it was the best sex of your life?….. And I didn’t say anything in return?” -Giannina
Lauren/Cameron – I’m glad they’re together, but I’m in the minority in that I always thought Lauren looked terrified of him and was faking her attraction.
Mark/Jessica – She obviously wasn’t into him. They both need to move on. She clearly was contractually obligated to walk down the aisle after 4 weeks, despite her knowing she would say no from the beginning.
Barnett/Amber – Nothing really to say other than I guess they’re made for each other.
Damian/Giannina – I’m actually surprised you think HE’S the jerk/one that everyone hates. She was immature and rude. They’re together…
Kenny/Kelly – Boring couple and she clearly regrets her decision.
Watch the reunion tonight!!
I was surprised I watched the whole show while Veronica found the idea stupid, but all in all I enjoyed the set-up and the humor. With that being said, I like to keep in mind that people will change their behavior when they know they are on camera, some far more than others. Above all, Cameron definitely seemed the most authentic and genuine by far.
Lauren/Cameron: Awesome couple and I was cheering for them. Most consistent as well, even with Lauren’s doubt near the wedding.
Jessica/Mark: Mark was incredibly naive, but at least he seemed real and I respect his all-in approach. Jessica annoyed me more and more because she absolutely played him. When she said “I’m always going to be honest” I smirked because she contradicted herself many times. “I know I found the man of my dreams”… but his name is actually Barnett. She is a successful women who is probably great to be around in real life, but I did not appreciate her facade.
Barnett/Amber: I’m happy to hear they are still together. I cringed watching Amber meet his family, but I think she does try to be authentic. Barnett ultimately seemed like a good guy, just to add to his humor.
Damian/Giannina: I laughed reading your comments on Damian because I could see why you thought that. I just think that was his actual personality. I found Giannina a bit immature, but at times she would surprise me with her articulation. I’m actually happy to hear they are together.
Kelly/Kenny: He was alway well put together and kind, but I feel like he was hiding his true feelings at times. The genuine Kenny arrived when he was angry after the alter scene and told the cameras to piss off. I would still guess he is a good guy.
I would love to see someone I know on the show. I think it would be hilarious.
