My alarm was set for 5:35am today before I awoke, looked over, and saw 5:19. Do I go back to sleep? That would take me a few minutes and for a measly 10 minute snooze? In that groggy state, waking up and hopping out of bed doesn’t seem reasonable because I’m OWED 16 minutes. Sleeping is the easiest activity anyone can do and it’s not like you want to disregard its importance. If we’re ruling out going back to sleep, which I think you have to, you should use it productively. Maybe if you have 35 minutes it’d be different, but in this scenario, I like to stretch. It’s rare I ever stretch. Before going for a run? Never. I was the kid who couldn’t get past 11 inches in the sit in reach. My back doesn’t bend. So, I do the one where you put your knees together, bring them up to your chest, then lay them on the side. That only takes a few minutes so after that I probably scroll Twitter or check my golfer’s rounds. Today, I’m writing this post with the extra time as I have to be out the door in 45 minutes. Usually, I’d play a few chess games before golf, but since I hit 1800, it’s too much effort to get back there and I don’t have the time. Plus when I say video games are a waste of time am I not a hypocrite? Do you wake up if you have 16 minutes left?
