The other day Meg and I were baking chicken in the oven. The oven beeped, I took it out, and we had the following exchange:
Me – “I think it’s done…?“
Meg – “Use the new meat thermometer! It’s in the drawer with the silverware, the blue thing. As long as it’s up to 165 it’s good.“
Me – “Got it.”
I have a big inferiority complex with Meg when I’m in the kitchen. I so desperately want her to think I’m not an idiot that my brain breaks when attempting even the simplest tasks.
I took the meat thermometer out and put it in the chicken.
Me – “90… 100… 110…“
Meg – “It shouldn’t be taking that long“
Me – “I don’t know what to tell you, this is how long it’s taking.“
Meg – “Wait, did you…?”
Perhaps by now you can guess what happened.
Your boy put the meat thermometer in the chicken all right, CASE AND ALL!

You might be wondering how someone so smart could be so stupid.
I’ve never used a meat thermometer before!
Not everybody knows how to do everything, using a meat thermometer isn’t the only thing. I can vlookup in Excel. I can solve one side of a Rubix cube. Just because I jammed that entire thing in the chicken doesn’t mean I’m stupid.
At least I didn’t put the screen-end in first. Now THAT would be stupid.

Was hoping this story would end with you putting the baby’s butt thermometer in the chicken or the insta-thermometer in your butt. Something with a butt would have really set the story off.
