Less Police = More Crime

I’m of the notion that defunding the police will lead to more crime. Whatever slippery slope that travels down, as I’m more a proponent of less Big Brother, if there is no fear of punishment, people will abuse the system. If the punishment for stealing was death, less would do it. So when activists decide that defunding the police is a worthy cause, I don’t think that’s a great idea. Barack Obama has a similar viewpoint and is far more articulate.

“If you believe, as I do, that we should be able to reform the criminal justice system so that it’s not biased and treats everybody fairly, I guess you can use a snappy slogan like ‘Defund The Police,’ but, you know, you lost a big audience the minute you say it, which makes it a lot less likely that you’re actually going to get the changes you want done,”

‘Let’s reform the police department so that everybody’s being treated fairly, you know, divert young people from getting into crime, and if there was a homeless guy, can maybe we send a mental health worker there instead of an armed unit that could end up resulting in a tragedy?’ Suddenly, a whole bunch of folks who might not otherwise listen to you are listening to you.”

This makes perfect sense to me. Spoken like a true politician.

The picture reminds me of the way Robert looks at Derek.

The Other Side

Now we get to someone that I find incredibly annoying. Laura said she thought I would like her because she’s pretty and that one missed by a mile. The following tweets explain my dislike from someone who acts like a spoiled baby who throws temper tantrums when people don’t do what she wants. Notice the difference in the two figureheads as I assume these are in response to Barack but I don’t know the time stamps.

Her premise is that she would rather see the resources go to the community instead of the police. This is perfectly sane. That no one listened when this argument was being made so an extreme approach was used to make people listen is childish. Your “defund the police” slogan is wildly destructive. I don’t see how it’s that far off from a baby crying to get their way so people listen.

Barack Obama is settled and mindful. AOC is childish and extreme. AOC and Donald Trump are on similar sides of opposite spectrums and we need people who are balanced like Barack. The quicker that people realize this is the approach needed, perhaps we can go back to being a more civil nation.
