This is Omar Fateh who is running for mayor of Minnesota. The people who see this, and think this is ok, are the people I’m trying to reach because any negative statement made about this will immediately be fought with Islamophobia.
I found this little nugget about his history, “During his campaign, Fateh was targeted by Islamophobic language. On July 14, 2025, conservative online commentator Charlie Kirk tweeted that Fateh was a part of an Islamic takeover of the United States.“
This is America
I wasn’t always as nationalistic as I am today and am proud to be an American. It’s a trait that surprises even myself. My parents were born in America and I have family roots going back 5 generations starting a tool business in 1853. I want this country to succeed. I want my forefathers to know I’m continuing to build what they started. I’ve also traveled to a few places and I take it on myself to represent our country in the highest light.
What you’re seeing above is un-American. A Somalian man who wants to run a city and bring in his people to take from our government and give back to his poor country. This man’s intentions are not to build a better America. He doesn’t give two shits about this country. Who elects him? Probably his countrymen who we bring in and support.

To add to outrage of why I feel this way, there are 42 million people out of our 300 million who are on food stamps (that’s ridiculous to itself). Not to mention that we the people fund these households. Where are our taxes going to?

We pay for them, and we vote for them to rule? What am I missing here? If you’re not seeing this outrage. If you don’t understand what’s happening and what the future will look like. You shouldn’t be allowed to live your cozy life and vote for them. America is one of the last few places on Earth where freedom exists.
Let’s look at the flip side for one moment and a comment I made that shows that people are out there like me.
I’ll re-visit the primary idea of wanting America to succeed. If this man from Somalia was waving an American flag, spoke about plans to empower us, to bring a better life to our people, I’m less inclined to criticize. At least Mamdani says this with some conviction even though his ideas are malarkey. Also, when I see Jon Stewart endorse this communism, give your $125 million back to people you hypocrite.
I have no doubt there are hundreds of shitty politicians in office, and they come from all races and creeds, but at least they fake being American. Omar Fateh isn’t even faking it. He is bringing Somalia to Minnesota and we’re embracing it. This world isn’t let’s sing Kumbaya together. Look at their country! Those are their values and they want what we have. Wake up.
I’ll end this post the same as the last one, prove me wrong.
Magtards love getting riled up over fake charts.
I won’t pretend to have followed this mayoral race at all, but one thing I think you’re deliberately assuming instead of asking is WHY are people voting for him? The population of Minneapolis is like 5-10% Somali, so it’s not just fellow Somalians saying “let’s take this place over”; he’s clearly winning over other people too.
The messaging on his website leads with affordability, higher minimum wage, fix homelessness, etc., all pretty common democratic themes (and no mention of Somalia). You can certainly disagree with the progressive politics, but it should at least allow you to understand why a struggling middle class person in Minneapolis who’s been unhappy with their current leadership would look for a change.
The fact that you wrote this entire post without pondering WHY he may win beyond “Somalians are taking over” highlights how X accounts (on both sides) can paint a story so one-sided that it’s impossible to see eye-to-eye with others. That includes the commentor above me, who is not particularly productive.

The people who vote for him relate to the above clip which claims white people are the biggest threat to America. Mainly immigrants are his voter pool. I don’t believe there is a why much further than them and progressive liberals who can’t point Somalia out on a map. When the voter demographics come out, we can re-visit the topic. Here’s the point, he’s doing this for his “Americans”, just not America. We’ll see how much you like his America.
To the first comment, ChatGPT says the chart is unreliable so we’ll leave it at this.
Minority groups (Black, Hispanic, Native American) have higher participation rates relative to their population size — meaning a greater proportion of their population uses SNAP compared to the White population.
He seems to be replying to comments that immigrants are inherently dangerous and then quotes someone saying that white nationalists specifically (not whites) are a bigger threat. To use a 60 second clip from “End Wokeness” and suggest you have an understanding of a mayor’s race in a city you’ve never been to is pretty much exactly what Tim Urban talks about in his book which I know you’ve read and mostly agree with. You have to believe it’s more complex than what you’re saying.
I’m not saying I’d vote for him, I probably wouldn’t, but it’s similar to Trump. I try to understand why people voted for him and I think there are good explanations beyond “they’re racist”, the same way I believe this case almost certainly isn’t as simple as “this guy hates white people and that’s why they’re electing him”.
I agree with the clip being used as rhetoric to say, “he hates white people”, and agree that it doesn’t necessarily mean that, but my underlying instinct, clip aside, is that he’s not doing this for America. It’s not brainwashing by social media, it’s 41 years on the planet, seeing places on Earth where countries have been altered to accommodate immigrants, and knowing that these places are no longer what they once were. Perhaps that’s life and all empires fall eventually.
