Preseason kicks off tonight with the Jets (-1.5) and Browns. Betting on preseason is as degenerate as it gets because you’re working off intel about players who usually don’t get to play professional football. Aside from the first drive or first quarter, which mean nothing over 4 quarters, 2nd and 3rd stringers get chances to make the team throughout the rest of the game. This means that you should bet on the team that will not be taking action, and that’s the Browns.

What’s the public think? The Jets have Aaron Rodgers, Garrett Wilson, and Breece Hall…they could be Super Bowl contenders (+1600). Who cares? They won’t even play. The Browns won 7 games last year playing Brissett and Watson at QB and come across as average even with Nick Chubb who 100% could be the best RB in the league this year. This analysis means nothing though when Zach Wilson starts seeing ghosts in the 2nd quarter. Sure, I have no idea who Kellen Mond, Joshua Dobbs, or Dorian Thompson Robinson are, but who is Tim Boyle? It’s a great coin flip that should come down to a last second FG with the Browns hitting it.

The Browns win this game tonight because life just works out that way. If it’s a 40 pt blowout because the Browns are the Browns, well, that’s on me and I won’t write another bet until people forget. This one though, I plan to win.
