This clip carries a fair amount of my opinion on their “foodie” discussion and then Grant Horvat’s comment.

A little context, and why the Internet Invitational was a tremendous success for YouTube golf. I’ve watched enough YT golf now that I have some idea who is who. When I first watched the II, I didn’t know anyone other than the Foreplay guys. Now I’m familiar with the Bryan Brothers, Bob Does Sports, Splittin’ Chicklet’s, Good Good, and Grant Horvat. I always watch on 1.25x and Jet is my favorite character.

Grant Horvat is a total nerd. He’s a good golfer, but why anyone would watch him enough to become a fan is beyond my comprehension. I’m also not a Kevin Hart fan. I looked through his entire IMDb and don’t think I’ve watched any of his movies other than True Story, and the only reason I watched that was because Wesley Snipes looked like a blacker Scottie Pippen.

Anyway, that doesn’t mean I dislike Kevin Hart, but this clip isn’t necessarily the type of content I’d normally consume.

To begin, I agree with Kevin Hart about not giving a shit where he’s going to eat next. Grant can’t comprehend how someone doesn’t get excited about their next meal. You can see his disappointment. He’s genuinely confused that someone doesn’t share his enthusiasm for food. Getting excited for your next meal makes sense if you’re a caveman who just took down a woolly mammoth and now has enough food to survive the next month. If the highlight of my day is anticipating what some guy in a kitchen is going to put on my plate, I need to find better things to do. Watching Grant act like Kevin is the insane one makes the exchange even better. I also entirely agree with Kevin’s answer of the conversation is more enticing than the food.

Then comes Grant’s absurd chicken comment. Where the hell did that come from? He’s so painfully unfunny that it’s hard to believe he was attempting a joke, which somehow makes the whole thing worse. Kevin immediately recognizes the opportunity and makes a production out of it.

God, it’s embarrassing.

Kevin knows exactly who he’s dealing with and plays it perfectly. All he has to do is pretend to be offended, and Grant practically melts. Instead of laughing it off, he retreats behind his rangefinder, looking like a guy who’s wondering whether his YouTube career just ended over a question about chicken. Kevin Hart is laughing his ass off while Grant is mentally drafting an apology to the entire Black community.
