I’m down $3,915 dollars in the past 4 years betting on the PGA. 1.8k of it is betting on Louis so at least he’s out of my life after joining Liv. I can’t support sell outs. It’s against my moral code. I’ve also lost another $500 in DFS. That’s more than I was expecting but it’s worth it for the thrills. There’s no better sweat than a 6/6 lineup playing for money on a Sunday. I tell myself I’m only a few unlucky breaks from breaking even. Sam and Jeff have gotten used to me boasting to the office how my 200-1 shot is in 2nd place after the 2nd day.

I belong to a subscription service called Fantasy Golf Insider and I’ve hit outrights as many times as their top guys hit to give you an idea of a “service”.

8/8/22 – Tom Kim – 30-1 – +$450

7/13/22 – Cam Smith – 20-1 – +$500

5/23/22 – Sam Burns – 30-1 – +$360

2/24/22 – Sepp Straka – 140-1 – +$1680

2/17/22 – Joaquin Niemann – 60-1 – +$900

Niemann and Smith were Ben Coley, but the rest were mostly my big brain. I’m still down a bit on the season but it’s not nearly as bad as past years. It’s very, very, hard to pick outrights for a few reasons 1) There are 100+ golfers each tournament 2) picking the favorites is for losers. When Finau won 2 in a row recently, it was against weak fields, and he was around 12-1 both times. That’s not getting me back to even!

Since we are entering the FedEx Cup playoffs, I figured this was a good time to round up the season. As noted, I’m not a good bettor. I tend to get locked onto my personal favorites and bet them every time (currently Lipsky, Wu, & Theegala). Since you know I don’t like low odds, this has me picking that mid tier more often with higher odds. The golfers who I will be betting on, probably not for their own benefit, are Scottie Scheffler (14-1), Will Zalatoris (22-1), Sam Burns (35-1) and Joaquin Niemann (50-1). Here’s where a few of the picks come from.
