The final 4 people chose the Bengals in the losers / survivor pool and it ended in a 4 way split. I pocketed $2,200 for the effort and that makes for a profitable football season in my ancillary betting. I’d be lying if I wasn’t a bit disappointed finishing in a chop because I was the only survivor with the Panthers left. I had considered the exact scenario that played out and I wasn’t smart enough to follow through.

As you can see, I was a squid with 4 Bengals instead of winning 8k. Hindsight is 20/20, but this is one of those ICM poker decisions where you have to weigh being different. The main reason I didn’t take the Panthers was because they beat the Texans as their only win, and I think the Texans are a good team, so the Panthers can upset others. If I had 100% conviction the Panthers couldn’t beat the Bucs, I could have gotten off the Bengals. The commissioner asked if we were going to carry on and 3 of the 4 voted to chop the money. I was one of the 3. In the spirit of the survivor, the league ends when you miss the pick, thus ending the season. The end result also shone some light into the idea that I can lose with nothing, so I’d be lying if I said walking away with nothing would felt good. As much as I’m not in desperate need of the money, it’s hard to justify losing 13k betting on golf and never hitting any wins. This was at least a booked win and I can stop posting about it now.

In other news, I did hit a nice parlay on Sunday to keep the sports betting from total tanking.

It’s been a mediocre season for me with some wins, followed by many more losses, and not a single DFS hit. There’s still a few more weeks left but I feel the season coming to a close. Playoffs should still be fun though.
