My $1,000 bet will be safe with Sam for another year. Our bet is that the Sixers will not make it to the Eastern Conference finals by the year ’19-’20. Even with the bet in jeopardy, I was rooting for the Sixers to advance. They had a fun season and it’s about time to have some post season basketball in our lives.
I don’t think it can be summed up much better than JJ.

Takeaways
Ben Simmons is a bona fide superstar. The knock is that he can’t shoot, which is true, but he’ll only improve. He’ll keep the team competitive over the next decade.- Joel Embiid will rule the roost as long as he’s healthy. JoJo played 63 games, plus the playoffs, this season and averaged almost 23 points. He’ll be a perennial all-star as long as he can stay on the court.
- Markelle Fultz, 19, is still young and developing. You got to see that age is not an excuse as Jayson Tatum destroyed the Sixers in the playoffs and he’s 20. Calling Fultz a question mark at this point is appropriate, although he did show glimpses of potential.
- Dario is a warrior.
- Robert Covington is taking heat. I’ve never been a big fan and Marcus Hayes is way smarter than me at proving the point.

- Calling TJ an inspiration rings true. I’m not a believer that TJ has the skill set to be an NBA player, and his biggest weapon is the element of surprise, BUT, he played tremendous when given the opportunity.
- The 3 shooters, Redick, Ilyasova, and Belinelli were crucial to the run the Sixers made and shows the ever changing NBA moving towards needing sharp shooters to spread the floor.
State of the 1 K Bet?
Do I worry about losing this bet in the next 2 years? They could not be Boston after they lost their 2 best players during the season which shows that the Sixers are still behind the Celtics. With Lebron disposing of the Toronto, I’d say that as long as he’s playing, the Sixers will have their hands full with Cleveland. Toronto showed weakness throughout and is seemingly on the decline. The Bucks, Pacers, and Wizards will still be around and Detroit may rear their heads if they can figure it out. I’m not sitting pretty, but I wouldn’t say that this one is a shoo in loss.
The Sixers were 19-23 during this season against teams that made the playoffs. In their 16 game win streak, they beat 3 playoffs teams. I wouldn’t say the Sixers overachieved by any means, but they still have a long way to go to be considered a championship contender.
