An owner in my fantasy league offered me Jordan Reed for AJ Green. I have Jimmy Graham as my TE. To add as much information to this trade, it was an auction draft and he got Jordan Reed for $7 and I got AJ Green for $73 ($250 total dollars).
I declined his trade and made a counter offer that I thought was equally fair.
He declined the trade.
A Deeper Look Into This
This is an example of why my faith in humanity will not change. There is 0 possible chance that this owner could think that it’s a fair trade. First of all, I have a better TE than he’s offering me if he wanted to look. 2nd, the players skill levels are not even close. One is the #10 points scorer at his position at WR and the other is ranking 15th as a TE. This man must have been hoping I have a stroke at my computer and turn into Hector Salamanca hitting his bell.
In all honesty, it pisses me off. That’s why you saw my trade counter. It bothers me because it shows a complete lack of understanding of how a trade works. This is not a human being who I would want to associate myself with if these are the types of trades he thinks are win/win. Now obviously, he’s not trying to win/win. He wants to stick it in me. Me first. You last.
I hold myself to a higher standard. When I was looking for a TE to replace Greg Olsen, I looked at teams and thought to myself, “how can I propose a trade that this person may actually accept.” In my scenario, one guy had Zach Ertz with OJ Howard on the bench and I’d be willing to give up a better value than Howard and make a package deal with Jarvis Landry. Unfortunately, I have 3 guys who I won’t trade (Barkley, CMC, and JuJu) and my next best player is Alex Collins. There is nothing I can offer that would land me what I want, and improve his team. So I didn’t offer a trade.
My point behind this post is look before you leap. I’ll never want to work with this clown again because he tried to pull a fast one. There’s a difference between making an effort and it being looked at poorly, and straight up being a dumbass. I share this to let everyone know, this guy is the reason you should never trade any of your players.
